I am here to put your mind at ease, be assured as a specialist in my field let me deliver insight into hypnotherapy, what to expect, and how it might feel.
Firstly, what is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy has its roots since the beginning of time, it is a technique that uses hypnosis known as trance states to treat symptoms or conditions. The workings of hypnotherapy sessions pave the way in allowing for the induction of a state known as hypnotic trance-like state, which is defined as awakened awareness. We all go into a self-hypnotic trance like state a couple of times a day each and every day in our lives, with hypnosis we utilise it for specific gaols we wish to achieve.
As you go deeper into trance you achieve a high level of relaxation, the body relaxes, the mind experiences a detachment from the exterior world and turns all focus towards its inner experiences. As you enter this trance-like state of heightened awareness and relaxation, you are naturally allowing your brain to become more receptive to suggestion and wisdom; you are able to access what you consciously may struggle to do, it’s here where we can begin rewiring old patterns of thinking.
At The Beginning of the Session
The important key with hypnotherapy: You, the client, are always in control, you have given yourself permission to be here, to achieve your positive changes for positive outcomes, you are the one in control, as your hypnotherapist I am facilitating the process for you to achieve your goals as I guide you through process of your hypnosis. My responsibility as a hypnotherapist is to serve as your guide, utilising my skills and expertise for you to achieve your successes. You get to choose where we go. My only responsibility is to get you to your destination.
We begin our sessions with an assessment, this paves the way for me in understanding the way forward and identify the core issues to deal with. From there we discuss how many sessions will be required with the information you have presented. By identifying how many sessions you require we are able to resolve the issues at hand efficiently and effectively. When I have an understanding of the problems you are struggling with, I am also able to identify the sub core issues which are all interlinked thereby have a most effective outcome. This is where my abilities, knowledge, wisdom and expertise are put to the test. I must always remain observant, inquisitive, improvising, ask the right questions, use as little jargon as possible, utilising my intuition and think on my feet to build the right picture of how we should tailor your treatments.
Induction
This allows the process to go smoothly, to flow from the start, utilising a variety of techniques for induction. The induction selected depends entirely on your input, it varies from individual to individual at the beginning of the session; thank goodness people are unique and absorb information in various ways, some are intricate and others different. It is this reason an assessment is required before undergoing any sessions, I require all the information pertaining to the reason you are there in a non-intrusive way for the successes you yearn for. By allowing me the understanding, what kinds of stimuli and language are ideal for me to apply with you.
Inductions may vary in time spent, some happen quite quickly and others may require a longer period anything between 5 to 20 minutes. You are the driver of the sessions, driven by your unique set of requirements. After the first induction, I may use a few brief processes to establish how deep your state of awakened awareness is. If required, dependent on the circumstances, I will use various and specific techniques enabling the client to achieve a deeper state of trance when and if necessary.
During Hypnosis
Once the induction has be initiated, my task is being your tour guide through a wonderful unique journey inside your subconscious mind. It is here where we can begin implementing the changes and goals outlined at the beginning of the session for your positive changes for positive outcomes.
Permission is always the core of hypnotherapy. with your consent, I will provide a post-hypnotic suggestion (PHS), this is a trigger, this tool gives you the ability to utilise after you leave. These positive triggers for positive outcomes are regularly used to help clients raise their degree of feel good, energy, joy, relaxation or confidence.
As The Session Concludes
As the session is concluded the next step is brining you out of your trance state into the present moment. This is a slow, gentle to moderate and methodical procedure. I’m paying careful attention to you, your responses, movements and actions to determine whether you need any more assistance throughout this process.
Many of my clients wish to stay within their state of hypnosis, the reason for this is how peaceful and wonderful it feels, a feeling and sense of being in alignment with your authenticity, a place that is very familiar on a level of your understanding and inner knowing. As you awaken, I’m there to greet you, making sure you are fully awake, fully alert, feeling wonderful, and answer any questions you may have.
How Does It Feel?
Most people will merely feel like they’re sitting in a chair with their eyes closed, in a peaceful restful state, other may feel time has stood still, others may feel a sensation of heaviness, others feel they have been floating on a cloud, so comforted and nurtured by levels of immense feeling of relaxation, something very similar to a meditative state.
For the most part, a hypnotherapy session is incredibly soothing and relaxing, if you arrive feeling stressed, be rest assured, as hypnosis and induction are established through intense concentration or guided relaxation you will simply find yourself naturally letting go and experiencing your level of hypnosis.
